My students need 26 copies of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," and some additional chapter books for the classroom library.

My Students

My second graders love to read! For many of my students, our classroom library is their only source of books, and therefore it is important that they always have access to books throughout the school day and at home.

I have 25 energetic second grade students in my classroom.

They are eager to learn and love coming to school each day. Our school has over 1,100 students from pre-k to eighth grade. It is a Title I school, which means that many of my students' families are living below the poverty line. Approximately 85% of the students receive free lunch.

My Project

Every week my students each borrow seven books from the classroom library to read in school and at home. Many of my students are now reading chapter books, but our classroom has a very limited selection for them to choose from. In order to keep them excited about reading, they need to have books that they are interested in reading. We just finished reading "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl and they LOVED it! They keep asking to borrow it and if our classroom library has any other Roald Dahl books. My students get so disappointed when I tell them that we only have one copy of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and no other Roald Dahl books. I would like a class set of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," so that each child can have his or her own copy of this book. I would also like some additional chapter books, many of which are by Roald Dahl, for our classroom library. These books would be enjoyed by the students both at home and at school.

Please help my class of seven and eight year olds to have access to books that they are excited about reading!
