My Project

For students to grow as readers, they need to be exposed to hundreds of books throughout their educational career. Years ago, students were given books that their teacher had chosen to read, with little input from the students. I strive to be different.

I believe that student choice in their reading is vital to student success.

I am working to create a leveled library that will help give my students choice in my classroom. As a upper grade teacher, I have students reading on various levels each year. My vision is to have a library full of different books, on different levels to meet the needs and interests of all of my students. Over the course of my career I have found that often students dislike reading because they have not found a book they enjoy. My goal is to change that.
