This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The books I’ve chosen will make a huge difference because they will help give students motivation to keep learning. These books will be provided as a gift for those students that have passing scores in their comparative unit for short stories. Receiving a book, rewards their hard work and opens doors to even more learning. When students have books they feel are "theirs," they’re more likely to explore themes, make connections to their lives, and develop a lifelong love for reading.

My goals for this project are to celebrate my students' hard work in mastering comparative analysis and to inspire their future learning.

By giving them books as rewards, I hope they feel recognized for their dedication and motivated to keep reading and growing. I also want to introduce them to authors and genres that expand their worldview, aligning with our goal to make reading relevant and rewarding.

My students are incredibly curious, tenacious, and willing to learn. They bring insightful connections and questions to our discussions and often see things in the literature that challenge my own thinking. Giving them books feels like a fitting way to honor their hard work and dedication to learning.
