My Students

My students are dreamers, but they are also members of a low income, high poverty community and many of our classrooms don't have access to same materials and resources as other schools. I am committed to providing my students with access to new opportunities, engaging lessons, and lots of books.

Some of my student's don't believe they can and I want to show them that they all can.

Our school is a Title I school and currently we lack proper funding to build a stable school library collection. Still, our students come to school everyday ready to meet challenges and succeed. In order to help our students believe that they can out school needs support to help them expand what they see and can do.

My Project

On one of my first days with students back in the building I had student ask me for a book that she could read that was fun, but I knew I didn't have what she was looking for. She is an older student who reads on a lower reading level.

Unfortunately a great deal of our high interest and low reading level books were checked before the pandemic and due to a variety of reason no longer lived in my library.

I am requesting engaging books that challenge and encourage all of my readers.

For the rest of the school year I would love to be able to say "Yes" to my students when they ask me for a library book, especially when they have their heart set on it. The books in this grant are a great start to replacing some of those books that we have lost. I love helping my students find books that they want to read, but I know that it will take a while to build our collection back and to continue to increase it. Please help us bring a little bit of our collection back to our school.
