"The whole world opened to me when I learned to read." ~Mary Mcleod Bethune
Our classroom is a place where students engage in balanced literacy. One of the most important parts of literacy instruction is a daily, interactive read aloud. This time allows students to practice good reader strategies.
I work with a fantastic group of second graders!
The second graders in our class are hard-working and responsible learners with contagious energy! They love learning (and laughing)! They are incredibly appreciative of the smallest gestures. We are at a Title I school with limited funding.
The second graders in our class are growing readers! They are putting in the hard work and determination needed to become better readers. The students in our class love read alouds. They enjoy listening to stories and learning new reading skills. It is my hope that students are instilled with a life long love of reading. They deserve the best!
My Project
These books that I am requesting will be used as read alouds. I will read these books to the children. These books will teach students powerful lessons. I will model important reading strategies while reading to the children. Through these reading experiences, children will gain new knowledge and acquire necessary reading skills.
New beautiful picture books will get the children excited about literacy.
Second graders love to listen to stories. Not only are the stories important, but so are the lessons that go along with them. These new books will give us access to new books that our students have not yet experienced.
