My Students

Reading is a key to a brighter future. In order to instill the love of reading, I have my students read 20 minutes every morning and require them to read an additional 20 minutes every night.

In my 5th grade class this year I have a mix of students who are at different ability levels.

I have multicultural students who are English Language Learners (ELLs), gifted, students with disabilities and students who are working on grade-level. Therefore every child is at a different reading level and has different interests. I'm a strong believer in giving the children a choice in what they are reading, that way it makes it more enjoyable for them and they are more engaged in the material.

My Project

Since we have a high demand of horror stories this year and the children can't seem to stop reading them, I am requesting two sets of American Chillers for our classroom library. I have a set of Goosebumps books already but the students have read them all and want something new. These books and bookmarks will be used to read in class and the children will also be able to take them home and continue their reading there.

So please help my students continue their love for reading by donating to my library.

I believe American Chillers will be a great asset to my collection of books. Without your help and support in education, we wouldn't have the resources to push the children to beyond expectations.
