My Project

I am requesting high interest and diverse books to encourage my students' love of reading. As a teacher in Title I school, I see my Kindergarten-third grade students come in eager to learn every day. Most of my students are either at the poverty level or below, which brings challenges into the classroom.

All my students want to learn about the world around them but don't always have the resources available to them.

The students are so curious to learn about new ideas and experiences. It's my job to give them the desire to be lifelong learners. I want my students to be successful, but sometimes we don't have all the resources that the children need. My students have the determination to learn no matter the circumstances. We are in tough times but my students will continue to learn through this pandemic.

Reading is something that is very important in the early years and grades. We are learning new strategies and how to apply what we are learning to read early learner books and beyond. These beginner reader chapter books will help the children learn to read and read better daily in class.

High interest and culturally diverse books are needed in kindergarten through third grade because many of our children are behind as a result of the pandemic and at-home learning. These books will help them engage in the story and also see themselves represented in the characters.

These books can be used for this year's kindergarten through third grade classes and for years to come. The children will be learning faster with new books to read.
