My students need flexible seating to allow for more movement throughout the day and increase student attention as well as involvement.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Maddox's classroom raised $462
This project is fully funded
My Students
I teach at a Title 1 school. This means that many of my students are being raised in single parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. They come to school exhausted, hungry, and possibly wearing the same clothes as the day before but look forward to coming to school where they are safe and loved. My students look forward to receiving experiences in the classroom that they cannot access at home.
"Thank you for believing in me." These words mean the world to a teacher but even more so for a student to say who feels like the world is against them.
They want to be successful, noticed and accepted.
My Project
My project is flexible seating. Who wants to sit in a hard chair all day? I know I move around a lot and work better when I am comfortable. Well, it is no different for my students. Their schedule is so packed, with limited recess time, that they need other options to move their bodies!!
By giving the students the flexibility to sit comfortably, I believe it will help reduce behavior problems and create a more positive classroom environment.
Please help my students receive more options of seating throughout their learning day. Giving them the choice of seating areas will help increase their attention span and encourage them to come to class ready to learn. Students will have a flexible seating contract and will have their own magnet to help identify which flexible seating option they are currently choosing. All flexible seating will have a specific place to be returned each day.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
