My Students
My students come in everyday with smiles on their faces and ready to learn. I teach a very diverse group of second graders in a high poverty school. Some of my students come from homes where they have been read to since they were infants and others come from homes with no books at all. Some come from homes full of food and others are part of our pack a snack program that provides food for students on weekends and breaks.
We have a wonderful second grade family and work hard everyday to help each other make the best choices!
It is my goal to keep my students interested in all aspects of their education, especially reading.
My Project
My students like to move all day long. Some of them even choose not to sit in chairs so that they can be more active while they work. We often take a couple minutes throughout the day for brain breaks, just to release some energy and refocus. Currently, our only seating choice is chairs and we would love to have more options for seating.
These stools will give my more active students an alternate seating choice and help them to focus during instruction.
My second grade teammate recently got some of these stools and I have been lucky enough to see them in action. Students are focused and are able to move around without distracting others. Some of my students have been in her room for reading and they absolutely love these stools. Every student in my room would benefit from being able to move more.
