Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Neurodiverse children experience their world through their senses. By providing an outlet for their tactile needs negative behaviors are reduced and time on task is increased.
A child's need to touch should be recognized and embraced, not punished.
Children instinctively reach out to feel new things. For children with sensory differences, this need to touch is not easily suppressed. By creating appropriate places to indulge in the quest for tactile sensory input, needs are met without disrupting the rest of the class. Classrooms should meet the needs of every child. By creating safe sensory spaces, all children can feel welcome and comfortable in the class.
