My Students

My students attend a public school that houses kindergarten through fifth grade. There are 26 Kindergartners in my classroom and we love to learn! Starting this school year, I received training in Phonics First, a new program to help my students learn to read! My students need new materials to make this program successful in our Kindergarten classroom.

We need to learn our Red Words through seeing, hearing, and touching!

We need red crayons and red bumpy mats for our Red Words.

My Project

Red Words are generally words that don't follow the common spelling rules, which in turn make them difficult to read for younger children.

In my classroom, I want my students to be able to see, hear and touch the Red Words to help them learn.

By providing my students simple materials such as red crayons and red bumpy mats (plastic canvas sheets,) my students can participate in an auditory drill, visual drill and then trace the letters with their fingers to feel the texture of the word after its written.

My Kindergarten students learn best through a variety of different learning methods and styles. With the addition of these materials in my classroom, I can successfully provide them with Red Word lessons that are conducive to learning the way that best suits them as individuals.
