My Project
Have your ever seen a child's face light up when they finally accomplish something they've been working so hard for? As a teacher/coach, it's the best feeling in the world. The Volleyball team at my school is open to everyone, and the joy and passion for the game gets passed down year after year. This past spring, the graduating players ran a clinic for the current and incoming students, and the obsession with the sport was reignited.
There was one question that kept popping up over and over again - "Mr. Kiernan, do you have knee pads?" Unfortunately, we ran out just before last season, so the newcomers were not able to feel fully comfortable or confident in diving for balls and going all out in their effort to improve.
Many of my students come from low-incoming housing, and we try our best at Evergreen to provide them with everything they need in order to succeed and feel like they have the same opportunities as anyone else. We would greatly appreciate any donation you can give! Volleyball, like any other activity one is passionate about, is the students' escape from the stresses of every day life, and watching them put on their knee pads for the first time always brings me so much joy. Thank you!
