My Students
Our students spend most of their time before lunch and recess working hard at rigorous subjects such as reading and math. From 2 hours to 4 hours remaining seated trying to build up their stamina before being able to get out side and play.
Our students have a ton of energy and are always anxious for the perfect weather to go outside and play.
Unfortunately the lack of playground equipment causes students to become bored and often run around and get hurt. Our students have problems because they don't know how to play, unless they have something to play with to release their energy.
My Project
Our students would love to have hula hoops like they use during physical education class to show their talents outside of the classroom. The various bean bags would allow our younger children to make use of our painted hopscotch courts and other activities in our schoolyard.
Without many options for our students to have during recess this project would help improve our students ability to play and focus energy in a positive way.
Being able to share is difficult for our students since we only a few items in our school yard. Increasing the amount of equipment will help more of our students to become active during recess and have a more positive experience outside.
