My Students
As a teacher in Southeast, Washington, DC, my students face several challenges outside of the classroom, including excessive violence in the community. However, when you walk into my classroom, you see students taking on leadership and working collaboratively.
My students are full of energy, eager to learn, and show solidarity towards each other daily.
My students are driven by purpose and challenges; they are motivated to write their worlds. My students are a part of a brotherhood within our school and are phenomenally driven young men defying odds.
My Project
My students always ask me "Will we really have to type everything in college?" When I reply "yes," they are in disbelief. Many of my students do not have daily access to computers and as a result are unaware of how to access and format digital documents. My students must be equipped for the technological world that we live in and that begins with having daily access.
With Chromebooks in the classroom, students will have daily access to online assignments that will provide them with practice formatting digital documents and expose them to content outside of the four walls of the classroom.
With these laptops, I will be able to set up a permanent technology station for students to conduct research, format essays, peer revise, and complete other digital media projects.
