We Have TIME....For Kids!

My students need text that they can read at their own pace and highlight. They also need text that is engaging and I believe that Time For Kids would meet those needs.

My Students

I work at an elementary school in San Diego. Our school is unique because 97% of our population are military families. Because of this, the majority of our population are considered low income. Our families have very little money to spend on additional supports.

We also have a high population of students with special needs.

For this reason, it is important to differentiate the lessons and to create lessons that are engaging to all of the students.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to meet some of our students needs' because there is very little money to spend on curriculum or additional supports. With the new Common Core standards we were not given any new curriculum. We are all trying to come up with engaging lessons for our students. The TIME For Kids will help all of the children have all of their own text that they can manipulate differently.

My Project

TIME For Kids will give my students a resource that they can manipulate by reading at their own pace, highlight what they feel is important, and respond to the text by pulling out evidence. Many of my children are working at different levels, so this tool would help differentiate the lessons.

My children have their own laptops at school, but they don't have that many resources to use on them.

I try to find what I can but my kids get so excited when they can use their computers independently. They are so appreciative for whatever they are given. I know that they will love TIME For Kids because it is so much more engaging then the resources that we have now.
