This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a fabulous elementary school. Recently, we have been designated as a Gold STEAM school. I would like to continue our STEAM adventure for this new school year with my fourth graders. Math and science will be infused to show they go hand-in-hand with reading and writing. I want to introduce them to programs like Discovery Learning to supplement their science text. We have an incredible robotics program in the school and enrichment programs that encourage students in these subject areas. I'm excited to show students how these subjects are interdisciplinary.
My Project
The iPad and Apple Pencil will help engage my wonderful students into science and math STEAM lessons. They will also have access to Discovery Education Studio, Board Builder, and Kahoot! These platforms will incorporate technology within the math and science, preparing students for this digital world. Immersing them in real-world STEAM challenges will allow them to collaborate and solve problems in their teams.
Working in these STEAM lessons will create an understanding that these subjects are interdisciplinary and reflect each other.
The iPad will also help them increase their technology use to high order projects like creating iMovies, QR codes, and SWAY presentations. The Apple Pencil will help them write their research findings directly onto the iPad to share it with others.
