We Have The Learning Center Blues, Supplies Greatly Needed!
My students need are in great need of community helper role sets, engineering materials, scientist materials, and a listening center to use during their Cooperative Learning Center time.
I teach in a rural community at a Title One school.
It is a Title One school because of the number of students we have who are on free or reduced price lunch.
I have a class with 20 Kindergartners between the ages of 5 and 6. The class is filled with various learning needs. This age is so crucial in building the foundation of learning critical skills. We are in dire need of extra support and supplies to help them learn! We have a large school with over 750 students grades K-5. Unfortunately the budget was cut so much in education, we aren't able to get the supplies we need to make learning as successful as we would like. I have several ESL children, who have English as a Second Language, as well as those who have been identified as needing intensive academic support. They need support that we just don't have the financial means to fill. Unfortunately, we just don't have enough to foster the type of learning that they need.
My Project
This project will make a substantial difference in the learning lives of my students! They will provide my students with the opportunity to expand not only their social skills, but academic skills as well. They will also give my students the opportunity to collaborate as a team, having to play fair, all while following rules.
The Listening Center will help my kindergartners, who are not yet independent readers, be exposed to various literature while listening to stories being read to them with expression!
The Community Helpers activity sets (Doctor, Veterinarian and Pilot), will help them learn about the different aspects of various careers. Unfortunately, many families do not have the resources to provide their children with opportunities to learn through role-playing. The Sea Life Specimen Center will allow my students to learn about the ocean through actual hands-on discovery! The Stretch and Connect Building Set, Magnetic Shape Building Set, and the Quake Engineering Set will all help my students be exposed to the exciting world of Engineering!
If you can make a donation, no matter how small, my students and I would greatly appreciate your kindness and dedication to the educational lives of our youth. Thank you for your support.
