Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach grades 4 and 5 ELA. Most of my students spent the last year and a half engaging in remote learning. This is their first school year back in a classroom setting together as a group. My students are both excited and nervous to be back in the building. Despite their nerves, they are looking forward to learning and growing together again. For many of my students
this is their last year with all of their friends, and I want to make it as special as possible for them!
My Project
My 5th grade students have spent the last 18 months typing during virtual learning. These cursive handwriting books will help them strengthen their handwriting and learn a new skill. My students are always asking about cursive handwriting and are excited to write on their own. Students will be able to practice and apply what they have learned in their everyday writing. This is a skill that is no longer part of the daily curriculum and knowing my students are excited to engage in this type of learning makes it even more important for them to have the materials they need to learn.
