We Got the Beat!

My students need percussion instruments. Our ensemble has grown to a larger capacity and all students need to experience playing the instruments!

My Students

Each year my students are excited about learning new genres of music. They have been exposed to many styles since I have been at this school. My students are excited about learning and always up for a new challenge.

These wonderful students have overcome many harsh circumstances in their neighborhood.

It would be awesome to provide them the necessary tools to become beacons of light in the community. This year they will experience the drum line in a new way. They are in need of new equipment and cymbals for the ensemble.

My Project

I've been blessed as a teacher to see music transform the lives of students living in the Frankford area of Philadelphia. Each year our school has the opportunity to train our future percussionists! Students are generally more attentive and willing to participate when the content is interesting to them! Well, what's more interesting than creating original rhythms using brand new percussion instruments?

Our students already face challenges in their home lives and in their community.

Being apart of a percussion ensemble allows them the freedom to express themselves. It also levels the playing field for most of the students who may have difficulties in the area of academia. They have a place where they can feel included and a place where they can excel! These instruments will help all students feel included in our selections!
