My Project
I'm the reading interventionist at my school, and data is showing that our students are having difficulty transferring knowledge of phonics skills to applying them when reading sentences and paragraphs. I feel students are lacking the chance to practice phonics skills with connected text. They are learning skills, but are not receiving enough practice with them out of isolation. The Primary Phonics Reading Program is built to remedy this. I currently have just 1 copy of each storybook. The books are great for learning and practicing phonics skills, but having just 1 book of each title makes it difficult to use in a small group setting. The project that I'm asking to be funded includes a small group amount of copies for each title, workbooks for practice, and a teacher's guide.
I'm so excited for this opportunity to use this system to help my struggling students.
My goal is to use the Primary Phonics with my K-2 intervention groups. Often, struggling students just need a different approach and a lot of practice in order to get on grade level. I'm hopeful this program will provide just that!
