We Dream of Tarantulas

My students need two tarantula habitat kits.

This project is fully funded

A rosy-haired tarantula habitat would be perfect in my kindergarten classroom! I have 16 students and we love having animals in our classroom. Funds are very limited in our rural district and budget cuts are making it even harder to engage students in daily activities.

Currently, we have (2) hamsters, (1) gerbil, and a hermit crab habitat, provided by Donors Choose. The children get so very excited every time they see the animals moving about in their cages. I want to keep this excitement alive in our classroom by bringing in a rosy-haired tarantula habitat.

A tarantula may sound a little bit creepy for children, but rest assured, they thrive on creepiness! The tarantula will find a welcoming home in our classroom and the children will take great pleasure in feeding him crickets. The daily feeding duties will teach them responsibility and help instill a respect for living things and the natural cycle of life. The tarantula habitat will be placed in our science center in full view for all of the students to enjoy.
