This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The carpet is the heart of the classroom. It’s at the carpet where students have their favorite stories read aloud to them, where they work in groups to tackle meaty math problems, where they learn to work in partnerships, develop interpersonal skills, understand the importance of eye contact and so much more.
The classroom carpet is the only true magic carpet.
The magic of learning is enhanced when students have a comfortable, clean, and inviting environment that encourages students to enter into and remain in a parasympathetic state. Over the years classroom carpets become soiled with dirt, urine, vomit, bugs, allergens, and other things that accumulate from heavy traffic. This negatively impacts student learning, because who wants to be called to sit on a carpet like that? Classroom carpets need to be replaced over time.
Please help us to replace ours so that we can focus on the magic of learning and not on the bugs crawling on our stained carpet.
