Bright colored murals, beautiful garbs, fresh fruits and vegetables at the corner market and the smell of delicious Indian food coming from the nearby kitchen. This is the environment my students live in. Parkchester is a beautiful neighborhood that embodies the Indian culture. Unfortunately, my school, is in a low income neighborhood. Many of my students, a diverse mix of cultures too, attend a school that strives to give these eager students who are ready to learn an excellent education. Many of them are a first generation American and are excited to begin school!
My Project
This time of year schools see a drop in attendance because students get sick. Sometimes it a cold but other times it's severe and children develop the flu. I've had students out of class for weeks at a time. I've also had colds and viruses spread throughout my class. Children are missing precious learning time!
Now more than ever the flu epidemic is scarier than ever.
Please help me keep germs from spreading in my classroom. Lysol wipes and spray, tissues, and hand sanitize are all a must have to help keep germs from spreading. These materials will help teach my students the importance of good hygiene. With a class of 32, these materials will be a great help!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
