My students need 26 subscriptions to Scholastic Weekly Readers to help support our Science and Social Studies lessons.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. L.'s classroom raised $215

My Students
Can you imagine not having books and materials for Science and Social Studies? Well, that is the reality that our Kindergarteners are facing due to lack of school funds. My students love to learn about science and social studies, which is so important in this new millennium. The cross road my students face is not being exposed to these vital subjects that are so beneficial at this time.
Why not pour the knowledge into our young students who are the future. While my students are young and so impressionable I want to feed them all the knowledge they need in science and social studies so they will carry these learning experiences along with them throughout their elementary years. By having them use the Scholastic Weekly Readers will keep my students engage and ready to continuously learn about exciting news, events, and issues concerning science and social studies.
My students come from low-income and poverty stricken neighborhoods.
Their economic status doesn't prevent them from having the drive to learn, in spite of their circumstances. They especially love to listen to books with themes in Science and Social Studies.
We don't have any science or social studies curriculum books or materials, but that's not stopping my students from wanting to know more about these subjects when learning about them at the library.
My Project
I am requesting 26 subscriptions to Scholastic Weekly Readers so my students will have stable daily lessons each day in science and social studies. My students will be able to follow along with me as I read about various issues, news, or events related to Science and Social Studies topics.
My students will also be able to do many activities that are in the weekly readers. After we have finished with the issue for that particular month, students will be able to take their reader home. They can reread them with their families and through questions, they can reiterate to their families what was discussed in the classroom.
This experience is very beneficial for my kindergartners and will carry them beyond their elementary years and enlighten them in these subjects. My students are very interested in science and social studies so this will allow them to grow tremendously in these fields.
By contributing to this project, my students will see that people do care about their future.
Knowing that the science and social studies fields are lacking qualified individuals and investing in our young students now, can be an assurance that their will be qualified people in these fields in the future.
By supporting this project, you will be allowing boys and girls to reach beyond the limits in the world of science and social studies and truly excel in it. They can become future Chemists, Biologists, Engineers, Science and Social Studies Teachers as well as many other fields. By first having the foundation, they will see there is another road they can travel to get where ever they need to be. This will make all the difference in the world! Please help my students see another road towards learning in the wonderful world of science and social studies!
