My Students
It is very frustrating when a teacher asks a student to color something, but the students say, "I need that color." Or, sometimes, students pencils are constantly breaking. I need more basic supplies to help my students succeed in school.
My wonderful 30 first graders go through a ton of supplies each year.
They want to be so successful, they feel that their work must look perfect. This is a great feeling for these inner city youngsters to have. They have been through a lot in their short lives. Many of my students live in poverty, and they qualify for free or reduced fee lunch and breakfast at school. They have seen many challenges in their lives like crime and violence. These students like to make their teacher, parents and themselves feel proud. However, without the necessary supplies, they cannot meet their goals.
My Project
It may seem simple, but having pencils, crayons, glue sticks and erasers in the room can greatly enhance the education of my students. When someone needs an eraser, I can just quickly go to the bin to get one. When a certain color crayon is missing, I can rely on the box of crayons to help complete the task. Many of these items, the pencils and erasers, will be used on a daily basis. Due to severe budget problems, my school is not purchasing these items. When I ask parents to send in supplies, I get very little positive response. I cannot teach, and my students cannot be successful, without the necessary supplies to engage them in the curriculum.
You can be an essential part of my classroom.
With your help, my classroom can be filled with some basic supplies we need daily or weekly. You, the wonderful donor, can make a positive impact on children's lives. I can tell you from past experience, that my students truly appreciate having new materials to help them finish work and learn better. Thanks to caring people like yourself, my classroom can be a more successful place to learn and work.
