We Can't Breathe!

Help me give my students an air purifier, filters, N95 respirator masks, and batteries for our emergency lantern.

My Students

The school has a diverse population in terms of socioeconomic status, ethnicity, and learning needs. In my classroom we have students who are gifted, English Language Learners, and students with special needs.

My students are very enthusiastic about school and learning.

They love hearing stories read aloud and writing/drawing about their own lives. They also love singing and dancing. They are very kind and loving to each other. They are creative and often blow me away with their skills and ideas.

My Project

The last 2 years in Northern California we have had some devastating wildfires. My school is not so close that we have been in imminent danger, but we are close enough that we have had several days where the air quality is so poor and dangerous that the students are not allowed to leave the school building.

They are expected to still be able to focus on learning, when the air reeks of smoke and causes our eyes and lungs to burn.

An air purifier and N95 respirator masks would help them tremendously in these situations.

We have also had several power outages, and there is no outside light in our bathroom. The students are scared to use the bathroom in the pitch black. I am asking for batteries for a lantern so that they can have a little more peace of mind in these situations.
