My Students
I teach special needs preschool. My students are 3-5 years of age and have varying disabilities. They are enthusiastic learners that love music, art, and stories that help them to learn early academic skills.
They learn best using multiple learning strategies and approaches.
Using hands-on learning experiences helps students to remain engaged and learn new skills. They require visuals to help them learn and understand new skills.
Our school is considered to be an urban school, and most of our students come from low-income families. We appreciate any donations to help our students grow and learn!
My Project
We will use the Comfy Corner Listening Center to create a comfortable, relaxing area where students can listen to their favorite stories on tape. The built in shelves for the electronic equipment will help keep our classroom clean and organized.
I'm also requesting a Storyteller Read-Along Library.
Using read-along and audio books supports students' literacy skills and can expand their reading comprehension skills. Students will enjoy looking through picture books while listening to lively music and sound effects. Students will learn how to track the words on a page and will begin to recognize simple sight words.
Preschool students are at an age where we can show them how fun reading is and help them on their way to becoming independent readers!
