My Students
"Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it." My students deserve every tool available to enhance their learning and the new iPod Touch and iPod Nanos will help them experience magic by taking them on amazing journeys through audio books.
My students are just learning about the magic of books and are getting excited about reading.
They need many books available that they can read independently, listen on CD, have read aloud to them, and read with a partner.
The students in our classroom come from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. Our school is an inclusive setting that teaches students with disabilities in the same classrooms with students who are developing typically. The students love learning together and need the opportunity to share skills. The students are a diverse learning community that works together. Inclusive education means that children who reflect the demographics of the surrounding region, including children who develop typically, children with special needs and children who are gifted, learn side by side. My school's model allows for the individual needs of each child to be addressed in a manner that enhances each child's strengths.
My Project
My students love reading together and need the opportunity to share skills. My students are just starting to read and they need a listening center to keep them interested in reading. I will use these materials to run literacy centers, play stories aloud to my entire class and motivate the students to read independently. Students can also listen to audio books to hear fluency modeled properly while they follow along with the printed text. These materials will be in our classroom to allow students to share books with peers and listen to books during our literacy centers. Learning to read is crucial to a student's success in school. Students need multiple means of accessing reading materials. A listening center will allow students additional means of reading various books.

With school budget cuts continuing to be a problem, I will continue to advocate on behalf of my students to provide them with the necessary materials to succeed. My students deserve the latest technology and every necessary tool to succeed. Unfortunately the ongoing budget cuts do not allow us the funds to purchase new technology.
