My Students
The elementary special needs classroom is a class full of challenges, laughter, discovery, and learning! We are considered a self-contained classroom. I teach students with a variety of disabilities. I teach students who have Down Syndrome, Autism, and Intellectual disabilities. These students are a joy to teach. I feel creating an engaging environment is a way to help ensure each child the best chance at being focused while learning! The games and toys posted will enhance their social skills which will enrich their life.
My Project
I teach a class of Kindergarten through 5th grade students who have special needs. The Speech therapist and I conduct social skills groups every day for the students. These social skills groups teach turn taking, working in a group, communicating with peers and teachers and emotional life skills.
The gift of teaching a child to socialize and make friends is a life long gift!
The social skills groups are divided up to best meet each individual child's unique learning goals. We need new games to fit multiple cognitive and age-appropriate levels to keep each child engaged and learning at the same time!
More than a third of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
