My Students

My students are very eager to learn about the world around them! They are inquisitive thinkers, and want to know how the world works and why it works the way it does!

Our school is located in a suburban community with strong parent and community support.

We take pride in sharing a learning experience that allows students to experience the world around them in a wide variety of ways! I am proud of the learning my students do everyday and helping them to advance their technology skills!

My Project

In this grant, I am asking for various materials that will help my students practice applying comprehension and problem solving skills that we learn about in class. Students will use the Jacket I Wear in the Snow retelling props and Retelling kits to practice retelling stories we enjoy together in class. Also, using the light pegs with our light table and low-tech coding materials, my students will be able to practice critical problem solving skills. These materials were selected because they help my students take favorite stories and act them out, retell them, or expand on them by helping to solve a problem posed in the story. These materials will help my students use engineering to solve a problem; for example, using the materials in the Gingerbread Man STEM kit to help the gingerbread man escape from the other book characters running after him! With each of these activities, my students will be able to practice retelling, comprehension, engineering, design, and problem solving skills!
