My Project

The use of headphones in my classroom forms an integral part of the teaching learning process. Utilizing the various applications that form the basis of our district curriculum student access to this vital tool improves the teaching and learning process. Students in the literacy block utilize the HMH curriculum where they can practice their reading through the AMIRA platform developing their literacy skills. The headphones with microphones allow them to adequately hear instructions and read assigned materials to chart development. They are also able to listen to stories and take assessments where applicable.

The headphones allow me to hear students clearly, collect data for data analysis as well as provide a sense of individuality as they demonstrate their literacy and numeracy acquisition.

What becomes a problem is that students do not come with headphones and utilizing the various applications throughout the school day becomes distracting as all computers are being used and the noise takes over the classroom becoming a hindrance to teaching and learning process. By having headphones with microphones, it allows for students to read passages and listen to assigned materials without being a hindrance to others. Students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning!
