My Students
Maya Angelou once said, "If you can't change it, change your attitude." My students have certainly proven that attitude is everything even during times of pandemic.
My students are eager to learn and grow even in the most uncertain times.
They have faced the challenges of distance learning head on and come to class every morning with a huge smile on their face, ready to conquer the day! As their teacher, I want to match their exuberance to learn and grow by providing quality distance learning lessons and materials.
I have 19 enthusiastic first graders! They are from diverse backgrounds and represent many different ethnic/cultural groups, speak multiple languages, and come from varied economic levels. They work hard, are inquisitive, and energetic. Our school focus is to close the achievement gap for all students, promote their learning with standards-based instruction that maintains rigor, while meeting the needs of all students and ensuring that they are on grade level by the completion of 3rd grade.
My Project
The challenges created by this pandemic have impacted us all in more ways than we can count. For the first time in history, first graders are being tasked with logging into digital devices like iPads and Chromebooks to learn basic subjects like reading and math, even before they themselves know how to read. Teachers have been tasked with becoming webmasters and digital curriculum creators without much professional development to meet our students' needs.
Help me provide the digital content and lessons that my students need to thrive in this virtual environment.
Even though I see my students through a computer screen, I want no less than the best for them, and to do that, I need a way to flip my classroom from the traditional paper and pencil to the digital world.
