We Can Build A Robot, We Can Build The Printer

We need a 3D printer for students to build parts for the FTC Robotics competition. A 3D printer will also help make students ready for college and careers.

FULLY FUNDED! Coach Case's classroom raised $544

This project is fully funded

About My Students

Cecelia, Hamsa and Raleigh are just three of the students that are leading the robotics team. They are inquisitive, creative, energetic and do not have much. Our students would like to compete against the school teams from very different background than theirs.

We have a brand new robotics team. At the FTC Robotics kick off, teams were introduced that 3D printed parts can be incorporated to the robots this year. Since our team is new, they have nothing to begin the building process. Many other teams have 3D printers as part of the school inventory. When our team returned to begin building the robot, they started developing a plan to build the lift mechanism for the robot, and started to design the parts they needed.

Printing 3D parts takes combining math, engineering and technology, all 21st century skills. The team will work together to design the parts they want to add. They will solve problems by modeling the design in PTC software and computer animation before building the prototypes. The printing will require each member of the team to assemble the printer, research and program the printer and test the prototypes.

In Their Own Words

Our robotics team is called StormBots (#9993) for FTC. We want to build the parts for our robot that we cannot make or buy. This is our first time ever to compete. When we saw the demonstration robots, we knew we could do better. We want to show the big schools that a little one can do as good or better than they can.

Well, we have two members on our team that are pretty good at drawing. We want to take those drawings, put them in the computer and turn them into the parts we need. We know our teacher can do it for us, but we want to do it. We know we can. We want to show the rest of the school what we can do if we had the tools to do it.

We do not have the tools we need to build our robot. We can take something and make it work, but we don't want it to look like junk. We want it to look good and work. Our team is pretty smart. We can do it, but we need the printer to make it work for us.
