This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title 1 school with predominantly English language learners who come from low income families. 90% of our children come from families that are at or below poverty level.
My class is full of sweet, active kindergartners who are excited to begin the path of learning.
They come in everyday ready to experience new things. I want to start them on their way to being life long learners in an environment that makes learning joyful and makes my children feel respected and loved.
My Project
My students, like most young children learn best through purposeful play with hands on activities. The stem kit, ramps and balls, blocks and blueprints, hands on number grid and giant number stepping will help them explore engineering, architecture and math in a fun and exciting way. The word houses and the magnetic alphabet maze will give my students some needed practice to lead to their becoming successful readers. These materials will be used in small group, large group and workstation settings.
My students are the engineers and architects of the future.
They may become the designers and builders that help prevent the kind of flooding that they witnessed during Hurricane Harvey.
