My school is in a low socio-economic area in New York City. We are a title one school and all students receive free breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately, many of my students come to school without basic supplies or the support necessary for successful learning. My students are highly motivated and look forward to our time together in Resource Room. They enjoy hands-on activities that foster collaboration among their peers. My goal is to provide support and guidance to enhance their self-esteem, and to reach grade level standards. Scholastic News will truly enhance our curriculum and engage my students.
My Project
Writing is a form of expression and during my Resource Room sessions, we share our thoughts and ideas through various modes of writing. We are excited to use dry erase boards to solve complex and challenging math problem. Our pencils need frequent sharpening as we use them to respond to literature and produce narrative, informational and persuasive writing.
We are constantly in need of writing supplies, as we work hard each and everyday.
We need adequate supplies if we are expecting our students to work towards and meet The Common Core Learning Standards for their grade.
