My Students
We are starting a new program in my class called Workshop Way. We need the sets of thinking activities and cards that go with this program so we can improve our higher order thinking and problem solving.
My class is full of 21 hard workers and good thinkers.
They come to school ready to learn. They work well independently and do well at centers.
My class is very diverse. I have 7 kids who are certified Academically and Intellectually Gifted, 5 who have Individualized Education Plans in reading, or writing, or math, or all of the afore mentioned areas. 4 of my kids speak Spanish at home. That leaves about nine kids who are working right on grade level.
More than half my class receives free or reduced lunch and come from less that idea economic circumstances.
Despite all that, they do very well working in small group format and going to centers.
My Project
In this new program that I am starting with my class, the kids rotate around the room to different "jobs". Some of the jobs are writing related, some are reading, some are math, some are artistic, some are problem solving or riddle type activities. In order to maximize the effectiveness of this "job", I want to get two sets of thinker activities. These thinker activities are problems that require some critical thinking, logical reasoning, and higher level thinking. If I have two different sets of these thinker activities, then I can differentiate my instruction better to meet the needs of all the different learners in my class.
This project is very important to me because I really want this new program to work for my kids.
I want to create great independent thinkers and problem solvers. I also want to have high-quality activities for the kids to do as they rotate around to the different jobs. I know that these "Thinkers" are just the thing I am looking for.
