Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I may have very different students in my class but they have one thing all in common :my students are in LOVE with technology! Just the very mention of future new devices has my class spinning with excitement and questions! We have four grade -levels in a self-contained EB/D setting. EB/D stands for Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities, and my class needs extra special support and attention to each of their unique situations. The age range is from kindergarten to third grade, and I have students aged 5-10, so needless to say we have a large gap to always be filling.
My Project
The endless ways in which these hand-held devices will help our class, goes on and on. We have four grade-levels in a self-contained EB/D classroom here at Rockway. My students get extremely excited at the prospect of anything technology related, however the choices we have are few and far between. Due to construction, going to the computer lab is not always a possibility as many classes must be uprooted for the time being. The prospect of receiving these devices has my class and I buzzing with excitement.
Using these devices will provide not only wonderful learning incentives but also positive behavior support( the backbone of our classroom philosophy).
I truly want my classroom to have everything that I can possibly acquire for them, as they deserve so much more. Th items I have requested include Amazon Fire Tablets and Samsung Kid Galaxy Tablets. Between the two kinds of handheld devices , I can engage my class on their grade-level. My little ones need more guidance and structured games and learning activities so, the Kids Galaxy Tablet will provide more appropriate literacy and math learning games. The Amazon Fire Tablets will be for my older students who know more about using the web for research. The learning apps on the Fire tablets are perfect for the grade levels 2nd and 3rd.
