Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a school that is 91% economically disadvantaged and 100% of them receive free lunch. We serve 42% English Language Learners who are considered Limited English Proficient (LEP). I want them to know that there are so many opportunities for their future.
I want them to have experiences in the classroom that they didn't know existed.
Our district is facing significant budget cuts and it doesn't matter how rich or poor your community is, which means some schools will be hurt more than others. It would be great to show my students that they have access to the same world as others and all of their dreams are possible.
My Project
Everyone knows that careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are becoming the most important jobs of the future. It is important to expose children early and often to these subjects to prepare them for the future. I would like for my students to have this exposure in the classroom. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities are being used more and more in the classroom. These items will allow me to set up a STEAM exploration corner in my classroom. This corner can be used across our curriculum.
By donating to this project, you will be contributing to the growth of critical thinking minds.
Students will build a love for these subjects and carry that love with them into their future.
