We Are Somebody, and We Can Make A Difference

My students need a class set of I Am Malala books to read orally with me.

My Students

I've got three blocks of kids that span all areas of reading ability. I would like for them to work on a service project for our community. To set the stage for the service project, I would like to read I Am Malala to them and discuss her life's work.

By reading Malala's story, my children will become passionate about a project that will help our community.

They will see that young people can make an impact on the world and change it for the better.

My Project

Students will read I Am Malala in class. We will discuss all aspects of her life. We will talk about how she made a difference in the lives of girls around the world. We will also discuss her Nobel Peace Prize. We will discuss how young people can change the world.

After reading Malala's life story, my students will design their own project that will make an impact on our community.

They will be responsible for researching the needs of our community, planning the project and implementing it.

I hope that this project will instill a love of community service in my middle school students.
