My Students

Imagine sitting through a lecture and then being given one science worksheet after another. Now imagine being in control of your learning, working in cooperative groups, questioning, and sharing your ideas as you seek answers to a problem. Students deserve the latter.

I have a classroom full of eager and energetic third graders!

They are always excited to learn something new and stay engaged when they participate in hands-on lessons. They love reading, questioning, discovering, and exploring. It is my responsibility to make learning experiences meaningful. I strive to provide as many unique learning experiences for my students as possible.

My Project

My students absolutely love project-based learning! They are young scientists who are so eager to learn more about the world around them. My students will observe and investigate as they participate in learning that focuses on Next Generation Science Standards. The EARTH kit will allow them to observe erosion and analyze soil composition as well as discovering ways to recycle and reduce waste from our school cafeteria. Students will use the ENERGY kit to investigate electrical circuits. They will design and build wind, water, and solar powered devices. The PolliNation Kit will provide the opportunity to design and build a pollinator habitat, rear monarch butterflies, and observe their metamorphosis.

These ecoSTEM kits will provide opportunities for my students to brainstorm, question, discover, and grow as scientists.

We do not currently have a science curriculum. It is my responsibility to design or locate engaging lessons based on Next Generation Science Standards. I must provide materials for my lessons. These ecoSTEM kits are exactly what we need! They will provide a wealth of opportunities for my young scientists this year and in the years to come!
