We Are Scientists Exploring The World Around Us! Part 2
My students need backpacks for a place to hold their science tools and materials to start a year of hands-on science inquiry!

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Part of being a scientist means having the tools necessary to make observations conduct investigations and experiments when you need them---in one place! Science Inquiry Materials Backpacks are the key!
Children are natural born scientists.
They are curious about the world around them and are always asking questions. Our school is small--approx. 350 students, which is not the norm in California, with an amazing and supportive principal. My students are eager to learn--their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them. Everything is a potential investigation/experiment to them so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project based opportunities as possible to enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more. We are a Title 1 school, but because of our size funding levels are not as high as other schools that have higher enrollments. With the help of parent volunteers and other sources, our school thrives and student achievement is high! We're the best little school in CA! We believe that the future lies in our children, that they have virtually unlimited potential and our job is to enable them to reach it.
My Project
Throughout the year, students will be involved in hands-on, inquiry based science investigations and projects. Students will be challenged and encouraged to develop and conduct independent research in addition to group projects. In order for students to succeed, I believe everyone should have their own set of inquiry tools and have access to them whenever they need them. By providing students with inquiry backpacks with which they can store their science tools, they will have them they need them. Imagine finding an interesting insect, wanting to observe it closely and not having the materials at hand to do so. That is a scenario I don't want in my classroom! By having an inquiry backpack--each student having their own--they will be empowered to investigate and explore!
This donation will ensure that all students in my class have a designated place for their own personal science inquiry tools.
They will be encouraged to take the backpacks home and share their inquiries with their families. In addition, this will help students to become responsible for and take care of their science tools. The backpack will start out with basic tools, but as the year progresses, more materials and equipment will be added as investigations become more complex.
