Every student can learn, just not on the same day, or in the same way. My students need tools to help them soar when they are ready.
My students this year are first graders who are prepared to blend into the "general education" population.
As a previous small class setting teacher I was working with children to bring their levels up and prepare to mainstream them back into a large class. Now I have been given the opportunity to work beside another teacher and together we will work hard to blend the children so well that we will be the only ones who can tell who is who. The children are excited and so are we. Some children are new to the program and some are being mainstreamed for the first time. It's very exciting for us all!
My Project
The materials I am asking for are a writing center table which will help the children to make the appropriate paper choice for a writing task. This table helps the children see their choices clearly and in an organized manner. Organization is key when asking the children to begin a task. They can get overwhelmed easily. I am also asking for slant boards and grips for their pencils so they can be successful writers. These tools help them when they have weak muscles and need additional support.
I hate to see a child who looks as if they are ready to quit.
When the supplies are there and ready to help them succeed it makes a huge difference. This program works when done effectively and correctly and we are hoping to get these supplies in the children's hands soon.
