My Students

I teach kindergarten in an inner-city school in Flint, Michigan, where 100% of our students qualify for free lunch. The majority of our students come to us below grade level and have little academic support at home due to the life circumstances of their families.

My students are eager to learn but need a lot of additional support in all subject areas in order for them to be successful in their future endeavors.

Your donations to our projects help us to make that happen for the students that we are blessed to serve.

My Project

My students are in need of book bags and bag holder stands in order to organize and easily access their reading materials. These items will help them to engage in more reading time. My kindergarten students are really making progress with their reading. I am starting to print them books that they can read at their seats when they have completed their work. We don't really have a place however to store our books. I want the students to read at their own level so their books are not the same. I would like each table to have a book holder stand and each student to have a book bag to store their books in. This way they will have easy access to reading materials and not get their books mixed up with their neighbors. The addition of these items will give my students more opportunities for reading and lead them on the path to becoming life long readers.
