My students need wrestling shoes to compete. It is the highest cost for them and we live in a low socioeconomic part of the state.

My Students

In my four year tenure as the head coach, our team has gone from last place in the traditional state tournament with no qualifiers before I took the job, to 41st, 26th, 6th, 11th, and this year 18th. We have 8 returning eighth graders moving up to ninth grade this year making our high school team 30 members strong. Our middle school finished second in their region tournament, their highest finish ever. Our youth program boasted 20 members last year in its second year. This is a growing program.

We are also committed to academics.

Every member of our team that has been with us for at least two years has earned a high school diploma. We have three former wrestlers that earned Academic All American honors from the National High School Coaches Association. I have recently completed my Doctorate Degree in Education to demonstrate to our team members the importance of academics.

My Project

Wrestling shoes are an essential part of a student's uniform. We provide them with everything else. Our students have an opportunity to earn free wrestling shoes by participating in our bed sheet fundraiser. Because many of our students live in low income neighborhoods, it is very difficult for them to sell bed sheets.

Our student / athletes graduate.

We have a 100% graduation rate with students that stay with us for two years. Many of whom go onto college or the armed forces. Our wrestling program is committed to producing the finest young athletes; male and female; we can. We want our students to become tax payers, not tax burdens.
