My students need math games to play when they finish their work early. These games will help them review skills taught throughout the year in a fun way!
When was the last time you used math? Chances are, you've used math sometime within the last hour. I want my students to be math problem-solvers both in second grade and as they grow into adults. My students need fun math games that they can use to practice the math skills they are learning about.
My classroom is made up of 28 eager, energetic, and hard-working second graders.
Our school is considered medium poverty with many students receiving free or reduced lunches. Even though our school and school district are going through some tough financial times, we have still managed to achieve the title of being an "Excellent" school. This shows the hard working attitude of our students and teachers! Our school is also in partnership with Sean Covey's "7 Habits of Happy Kids." We teach our students how to be leaders both in the classroom and in life!
My Project
With these fun and interesting math games, my students will be motivated to practice math throughout the day. These games will be a "quiet choice option"-- something the kids can do when they finish their work early. Right now, we have very limited math activities in our quiet choice bin. The kids absolutely love math but often get tired of the flash cards and other "boring" activities in the bin. These games would highly motivate my students and would help them revisit math concepts and skills that they learn throughout the year.
Your support of this project will help instill a love of math in my students.
It will help them build skills that they can apply in their every day lives. These games will give them opportunities to practice math in a fun and exciting way!
