My Students
My first graders are energetic and enthusiastic students. They enjoy learning and active play. They get so excited when it is time to be active and to learn new activities throughout the day.
My first graders represent many diverse ethnic backgrounds and come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds.
There is a wide range of academic abilities in our classroom. Students are eager to learn and strive to do their best at all times. They enjoy interactive and hands-on learning.
My Project
My students need a variety of counters, dominoes, dice, and snap cubes to develop a strong understanding of numbers. Since children are constructing and deconstructing numbers and collaborating, we need a Yacker Tracker to keep the noise in our classroom at a reasonable level. Students will use the Cricut to design anchor charts of their mathematical learning to present to the class. We also need the storage shelf to keep all of these wonderful materials, so our learning environment continues to be well organized and safe.
Math manipulatives, a Yacker Tracker, and a Cricut would significantly help my students develop a conceptual understanding of the 1st grade math standards.
These materials would provide many opportunities for students to model the math problem and to discuss their solutions with their classmates.
