My Students

Students in my class are unfailingly kind. I have never seen a more positively caring group! They love helping others and making sure everyone has a great day at school. It is a regular sight to see students giving each other compliments and “Shout Outs,” filling our Acts of Kindness jar with marbles, and being a good friend to those around the school.

Because of their unwavering positivity and courage to always choose kindness, each of my students deserves a standing ovation for the work that they do each day in making the world a better place. They are truly inspiring.

My Project

5th grade is such an exciting time for a young historian - US History is a major focus in the curriculum. To really drive every topic home, I weave each historical era and event throughout reading and writing lessons as well. To engage students and hook them into each lesson, I refer to historical picture books.

There is nothing better than a crisp hardback book with detailed illustrations to catch the attention of a young historian hungry for knowledge.

With this project, my goal is showcase a plethora of historical movements, events, and voices each day through the use of books and whole group read-alouds. Not only is this a quick, easy way to show excitement for a topic, but it allows all voices of the past to have a permanent place in our classroom. Your donation will aid in providing my students with this experience every day, showing them the importance of studying the past through literature.
