We Are Hot! In Need of Fans!

My students need 10 fans to keep cool in the classroom.

My Students

I work in a very low income Title I School in which many of the students are raised by foster parents or grandparents. This is a second grade classroom in a high poverty area. Because we are an urban school, resources and funds are very limited!

Behind all the hard work we are doing with our limited resources, it is very hard to concentrate in the heat.

We are on an upper floor where it is not cool in our classroom. When the temperature is close to 100 degrees, like it was in the past couple years, we already have shorter lessons and more water breaks, but we are also not feeling well. Many of the students are breaking out in fevers as well as falling asleep! We need to keep our classrooms cool. I am asking for these fans for all the second grade classrooms. The last couple days have been so hot that the school district called for early dismissal.

My Project

These fans will allow for the air direction so that all of the students will benefit from the increased airflow. This project will benefit my students and other second grade classrooms by making the classroom and environment more comfortable. This will create a better learning environment and less water breaks.

First, I want to thank you for considering this project.

Your love and support will extend the students’ learning beyond the cooler months and into the hottest days of summer. Instead of fanning themselves and counting the hours until dismissal, or counting the half days, they will be able to grow. These second graders will grow as readers, writers, and mathematicians.
