My students need new pencils, glue, and dry erase markers because we are running low on supplies. We need the Lysol wipes and other cleaning supplies to keep our classroom clean!
This year, I am working with a great bunch of 1st graders! In my class, I have 27 of the brightest and best (at least I think so)! They come to school hungry, looking for a safe environment to be themselves. Our school provides breakfast and lunch to our children.
My students and I have created a safe, engaging, home-like environment for us to learn and grow together.
We will use this time together for not only them to grow as students, soaking in information, reaching their goals and moving on to the next grade, but also for me to grow as a teacher.
That's where Donors Choose comes in. My students are from Detroit. Not everyone can buy school supplies, and our school is fairly new. We don't have all of the materials that well established schools have.
My Project
We just hit the 100th day of school (2/22)! That means we are about halfway through our school year! Time flies when you are having fun! To finish the school year off right, we need more supplies! Parents donate as much as they can in September and we are running out of supplies. Do you remember when you got a brand new pencil? The smell of freshly sharpened pencils, the way it would write just perfectly? When you donate to this project you will be giving each one of my students a brand new pencil pouch (ours are currently falling apart) and that brand new pencil feeling! The dry erase markers we use every day to practice our sounds, spelling words, 2 digit addition and subtraction, and writing sentences. The think dry erase markers are better for our hand-eye coordination and our tiny hands! We need the cleaning supplies to help keep our classroom clean and germ free, especially with all the weather changes we have been getting. Colds are plentiful with children and we want our class to stay healthy!
