We Are Doing MORE With Less!

My students need and iPod Touch, with speakers and an iPad case.

My Students

We need to protect their voices! In the past, students who could not communicate using their voice, were forced to pay $6,000 to $8,000 for a voice output device. Now with the ipad and ipod touch and great communication apps, students can obtain a device to communicate with for under $500!

The special education teachers at our school, have pooled their money together to try out some of this new technology.

The problem is, we need the covers and speakers to make this project be successful. Our school population is one of high poverty. We serve students from Early Childhood Special Education up through eighth grade that have disabilities in the area of Autism, Developmental Cognitive Disabilities, and a wide range of Developmental Disabilities.

My Project

The speakers I have requested will come in handy for students to be able to attach them to their ipod touch (AKA their new voice output device!) to make it so that students using this type of technology in noisy places like the cafeteria or during recess, WILL FINALLY BE HEARD! Using this technology, students can tell of their wants and needs and communicate with other students and staff. The ipad case is an essential piece of protection we don't have for our current ipad that has been made into a voice output device. Finally, we are asking for another ipod touch so that we can continue to share this technology with other students who can't speak on their own.

Donations to this request will allow our students with special needs to communicate and "speak" their minds as well as be a more included part of our community.
